Beacon Hill Farming Playbook: 3.1 - Mass Mailers and Postcards {{ currentPage ? currentPage.title : "" }}

Overview

Mass mailers are one of the most consistent and visible ways to stay in front of Beacon Hill residents. They create regular touchpoints that remind the community of who we are, while reinforcing other farming activities (stacking effect).

Mailers should:

  • Arrive quarterly (4x/year minimum).

  • Be professionally designed in line with our brand guidelines.

  • Include valuable content (market updates, event invitations, local spotlights).

  • Direct recipients to a call-to-action (visit website, attend event, contact us).

Types of Mailers

  1. Market Updates

    • Seasonal or quarterly updates on Beacon Hill sales trends.

    • Clear, visual graphics.

    • Include a “What this means for you” homeowner angle.

  2. Event Invitations

    • Promote community events we sponsor (e.g., Movie Night in the Park, Ice Cream Day).

    • Include RSVP or “mark your calendar” instructions.

  3. Local Spotlights

    • Feature a business, school, or resident success story.

    • Reinforce our role as active neighbours.

  4. Holiday / Community Greetings

    • Year-end “thank you” message.

    • Holiday or Canada Day greetings tied to community pride.

Best Practices

  • Consistency is key: Don’t miss a quarter — the rhythm builds recognition.

  • Stack mailers with other activities: A postcard promoting Movie Night → social posts → website recap → Facebook Group posts.

  • Keep it hyper-local: Content must be Beacon Hill–specific, not generic Ottawa.

  • Always include our website (nickfundytus.ca/BeaconHill) for more info.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Marketing Lead: Creates content calendar, drafts copy, coordinates design.

  • Ops/Finance: Manages printing and mailing logistics.

  • Realtors: Provide local stories, business spotlights, and “boots on the ground” insight.

KPIs

  • Mailer delivery rate.

  • Website traffic spikes after mailer drops.

  • Event attendance (if promoted via mailer).

  • Inquiries mentioning the mailer.
