Video Recording Guidelines - Monthly Market Updates
Monthly Market Updates
The goal is to maintain a consistent and professional appearance across all videos, even when recorded on different devices.
Note: These guidelines do not apply to BombBomb videos.
1. Prepare Your Recording Environment
Choose a Quiet Location
Record in a quiet space free from interruptions.
Close doors and windows to minimize background noise.
Avoid filming in large, empty rooms that may create echo.
De-Clutter Your Background
Ensure the area behind you is clean and professional.
Ensure Proper Lighting
Your face should be clearly visible and well-lit.
Avoid strong backlighting (such as bright windows behind you).
2. Camera & Equipment Setup
Use Your Phone Camera
Record using your phone's camera
Built-in laptop webcams should not be used, as phone cameras provide significantly better video quality.
Record with the Back-Facing Camera
Use your phone's rear camera for the highest quality footage.
You should not be looking at your phone screen while recording.
iPhone Users
Consider using Continuity Camera to view yourself on your laptop while recording with your phone.
Clean Your Device
Before filming:
Clean the camera lens.
Remove any dust or debris from charging ports and microphone openings.
Stabilize Your Phone
Place your phone on a stable surface or tripod.
Ensure the mount does not cover the camera, microphone, or charging ports.
3. Framing & Positioning
Camera Height
Position the camera between upper-chest and eye level.
Avoid filming from above or below your face.
Centre Yourself
Remain centred in the frame.
Maintain even spacing above your head and on both sides.
Film Straight On
Face the camera directly for a professional appearance.
4. Recording Settings
Resolution
Record in:
4K (preferred), or
1080p
Frame Rate
Record at:
60 FPS
If your video will exceed 5 minutes in length, consult the Marketing Assistant for guidance on optimal settings.
5. Recording Multiple Sections
If your video contains multiple segments, record each segment as a separate video file.
Example
For the Monthly Market Update:
Nick records the intro as one video.
Nick records the outro as a separate video.
This means two separate video files should be submitted.
6. Start & End Each Clip Properly
When recording:
Do
Press record.
Take a brief breath.
Begin speaking immediately.
Finish your final sentence.
Pause briefly before stopping the recording.
Do Not
Include unnecessary greetings or transitions.
This helps reduce editing time and minimizes the need for video splicing.
