How to Prepare for an English Exam {{ currentPage ? currentPage.title : "" }}

More than 40 million people take official English tests every year around the world.

Here are 5 tips to prepare you well for obtaining one of these linguistic sesames:

STEP 1: KNOW WHERE YOU ARE

To progress and achieve your goals, you need to know your initial level and know the margin of progress that you will have to overcome. The first step in your preparation for language exams should therefore be to test your current level.

You can spend time on the Internet looking for an effective and free test to validate this step, or simply take thePTE practice test to know accurelty know your level.

2ND STEP: IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH

You knew that was going to be part of the plan steps, right? Improve your level by using online platform, taking English lessons , chatting with native English speakers or even going on a language trip abroad.

For each of these options, you will need to work on all aspects of your English: reading, listening, writing and speaking.

3RD STEP: LEARN ALL ABOUT THE TEST FORMAT

The preparation doesn't stop there! In effect, you are in “competition” with native speakers. Thus, beyond the linguistic aspect, you will have to work on the technical aspect of the test itself. To do this, do not hesitate to go directly to the site of the chosen test where you can take mock tests, or order equipment to prepare you specifically for the exam.

The objective of this step is to go to the test session already knowing very well the type of questions you will be asked, how they will be scored, and what strategy to adopt to optimize your score.

STEP 4: TEST YOURSELF AGAIN

When you feel that you have improved your English and are familiar with the test, there is one more step before registering for the exam. Test yourself again. If you took the PTE mock test before, take it a second time to see how much you've improved. Do not skip this step! This is the only way to know if you are ready to spend your money to take the official exam. There's no point in signing up if you're not ready to get the score you want...

5TH STEP: ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS

With this preparation plan, you can go to your test session feeling confident. Although the challenge is difficult, you will be ready to achieve the objectives and will be able to pass the test with confidence. A great recognition of your preparation which remains the key to success.
