How to Coach Your Sales Team When They WFH {{ currentPage ? currentPage.title : "" }}

Work-from-home (WFH) job opportunities have become plentiful in recent years, and not just because of pandemic-related shutdowns. The fact is that WFH has been a growing trend over the past decade due to the ease with which employees and employers can connect over the Internet.

While WFH has its benefits, one of the biggest challenges employers face is figuring out how to coach WFH sales professionals. In the office, meetings can be held, and training sessions can be conducted, but how do you go about doing this remotely?

Use a Coaching Platform

For employers struggling with this issue, the use of an online sales coaching platform may be able to help. An online sales coaching platform provides the opportunity to engage your sales team through the Internet, and many coaching platforms offer collaborative features that work in real-time. In many ways, an online coaching platform is just like being in the office with your employees, but coaching can take place virtually.

Maintain Open Communication

One of the more difficult aspects of WFH is the disconnect that can occur when it comes to communication. If a problem is brewing, it can usually be spotted easily when you’re in the office with your team each day. When your sales professionals WFH, you may not notice an issue until it has become a big problem.

To solve this and coach your sales team through difficulties, try to maintain an open line of communication. Consider setting up an anonymous reporting channel where your sales professionals can let you know about their struggles. In the office, maybe you have an open-door policy. For employees working from home, consider having an open email policy, or perhaps you can leave a chat window open for your WFH employees to jump in and out of as needed.

Encourage Peer Coaching

Employees who WFH may feel isolated, and as such, they often turn to things like Slack or Discord to have group chats during the day. Use this to your advantage by starting channels that can be used to coach. In doing this, you can also encourage peer coaching since your WFH employees can gather on these channels to share encouragement, discuss solutions to challenges, and more.
