These are short-term programs that feature intensive study over days or weeks. Upon graduating from a coding bootcamp, you should be equipped with the basic skills required to begin your coding journey.

Coding boot camps aren’t meant to provide as in-depth of an experience when compared to formal classroom learning, but they can offer the fundamentals upon which to build a coding profession. Most coding bootcamps are offered by private companies, but some may be held by state-run schools.

Tuition Costs for a Coding Bootcamp

Coding bootcamp tuition costs can vary depending on your area, the length of the program, and how intensive the event is. Coding bootcamp tuition for a short event may only be a few thousand dollars, but a longer and more in-depth bootcamp event can cost over $10,000. The most intensive programs can cost even more, but as a general rule, you can expect to pay between $5,000 and $10,000 for a typical coding bootcamp.

In some cases, tuition will be higher if you sign up for individual classes as opposed to signing up for a full program. Also, some course providers may offer discounted tuition if you can get a group to sign up for a bootcamp instead of just taking classes yourself.

Delayed Tuition

Some bootcamps delay the payment of tuition until graduates obtain employment. Under this arrangement, students sign an agreement that states that tuition payment is to be made upon receiving employment using the skills learned from the bootcamp.

If you sign such an agreement, make sure you understand all the terms. Some agreements may have special clauses that state you must pay the tuition after a certain period, whether you have gotten a job with your skills or not. Additionally, some agreements may require payment if you obtain any type of employment upon graduation, not just employment that utilizes the skills you learned during the bootcamp event.
