Jere Pöyhönen, known more widely as Käärijä, is a Finnish rapper, singer, and songwriter.

Musical Career

Käärijä grew up in Vantaa. He discovered his passion for music while learning the drums and started to produce music in 2014. Käärijä released his music independently until 2017, when he was signed to the record label Monsp Records. He then released the double single Koppi tules/Nou roblem. The following year he released an extended play (EP) titled Peliä. In 2020, his debut album Fantasista was released.

  • Käärijä had a translator in Liverpool, but didn’t end up needing him, leading to the trademark broken English

  • Before going green for the Eurovision Song Contest, Käärijä used to always wear a yellow suit to gigs (now seen worn by Häärijä)
