Häärijä is Käärijä’s alter ego, or dopplegaanger. According to Käärijä, Häärijä is a ghost of his past (x). He wears Käärijä's old outfit (the yellow suit) that he used to wear at gigs, but without the pants. Häärijä also wears roller skates at gigs, and sometimes wears a yellow bolero instead of a suit jacket.
Häärijä used to not be acknowledged at all at gigs. He would do his thing alongside Käärijä, and then leave. Somewhere along the way this changed, and now he is an integral part of Käärijä shows. He still does not talk, but he gestures and makes facial expressions.
Häärijä does not only appear at Käärijä gigs. He has his own Instagram account (@paidatonkiehuja.official) where he posts TikTok videos and other sketch videos that he makes (most of the time with Käärijä), but most importantly his dog, Chelsea.
Häärijä’s First Words
Häärijä’s first words were “Kiss kiss London” at Käärijä’s London gig in 2023.
The End of the Yellow Era?
At UMK 2024, Häärijä wore a green bolero during Käärijä’s interval performance of Cha Cha Cha instead of his usual yellow suit. This leads fans to believe that Käärijä’s green bolero era may be over, and by extension Häärijä’s yellow suit era.
Other Halter Hegos
Häärijä is not the only alter ego that is portrayed by Häärijä.
Hojan
Hojan is a portmanteau of Häärijä and Bojan, and is used to describe Häärijä when he dresses up as Bojan Cvjeticanin, the lead singer of Joker Out.
Häärijä’s Real Identity
Häärijä’s real name is Tomi Häppölä. He co-hosts Yle’s Jumppahetki-aamuohjelman with Tanja Kautiainen (x). According to an article from MTV, it is speculated that Häärijä and Käärijä are related due to their similar appearance.
