In 5.4 the unreal LODs system seems to create issues with the merging. If you have a merged wth multiple materials to avoid it being corrupted you have to simply remode and readd the last material as detailed described in the following steps:

  • Open the newly merged skeletal mesh

  • Hit Ctrl + C to copy the LAST material in the Material Slots array

  • Delete the last material in the Slots Array

  • Click (+) to add a new Slot in the Material Slots Array

  • Paste the copied material in the newly created slot

  • Fixed a crash when saving 2 meshes with the same name / path

  • Fixed a crash when merging meshes with multiple overlapping UVs

  • Added the Runtime merger wrapper to merge skeletal mesh at runtime
