The Attempts were a short-lived attempt at remastering the Minecraft Guides. However, they failed, in one way or another. Here is a list of reasons for fails:
The original footage is filmed off an OG Nintendo 2DS camera. Unlike the modern New Nintendo 2DS, which has a bearable resolution of 480p and (unconfirmed) 30fps in terms of camera, the older 2DS has a whopping 240p, with a frame rate of 5-20fps (15 being average).
The screen that had Minecraft being played on it is a CRT TV. The TV has a high refresh rate, and because the camera only records 20 frames per second, the camera couldn’t catch up with the TV’s image, causing the footage to lag behind for a few seconds.
Because the footage is only 240p, the upscaled version of it appears slightly distorted, and the frame rate randomly drops at times.
The CRT TV being used for the gameplay is interlaced. Interlaced does not work well with upscaling services.
The textures of Minecraft seen on the TV were mistaken for artifacting by the upscaler, causing the game’s textures to look unnaturally smooth.
Despite the fact that sometimes the upscaled footage appeared to be “okay,” the audio was very staticky and low-quality. The 2DS’ microphone was the cause for this.
