The film, set in Louisville in the early 1990s, begins by introducing us to its troubled heroine, Sharon, who wears short skirts and loudly buys beer for everyone at her local tavern before jumping on the bar and dancing raucously to 'Boot Scootin' Boogie. Yes, Sharon has a drinking problem, and her drunken ebullience masks deep-seated misery. Her close friend and co-hairstylist Rose is concerned about Sharon's attitude and takes her to an AA meeting, where Sharon refuses to confess she is an alcoholic.
