History

Pre-chastisement

The Republic of Pampanga was founded in the archipelago of Saint Lazarus, today the Autonomous Commandery of [Filipinas](./pampanga/commanderies_of_the_republic_of_pampanga/Filipinas.md). The archipelago was ruled by a Tagalog elite, with local power delegated to loyal vassals. Both were prone to anti-clerical and masonic tendencies, with rampant disobedience and manipulation of ecclesiastical functions and favor following the [Second Vatican Council]. These tendencies reflected the citizenry's attitude toward life. Mainstream proponents of the Faith held Protestantized beliefs and actions, all too vulnerable to the encroaching Protestant and Atheist proselytizers who provided more of what the reforms meant to give. Even with modernist tapestries draped everywhere, some elements still kept traditional trappings.

Proponents of the traditional order lay scattered among close knit groups. The largest of these was the [Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Pii Decimi](../church/fsspx.md) (FSSPX), with numerous clergy and lay congregations throughout the country. The FSSPX's reputation as schismatics caused backlash from local bishops, who banned practices associated with the Old Rite such as ad orientem masses or communion on the tongue. Although the FSSPX had its largest Asian presence in the archipelago, its numbers paled to even medium-sized [Novus Ordo](../documents/liturgy/novus_ordo.md) parishes. Even smaller were those assisting in diocesan Traditional Masses. These regularly-attending faithful in total could not rival a single Novus Ordo parish in high population areas.

Peri-chastisement

The chastisement of the Philippines began with the Fatima Day earthquakes. On May 13, two earthquakes completely destroyed what is now the Province of Maynila. With the central government collapsed, a counter-revolutionary war sprang up in the Provinces of Pampanga and Tarlac

Beliefs

Our Lady of los Remedios is the Republic's patroness. Saints Philomena and Theresa de Avila are its co-patronesses. Saint Ferdinand of Castille and San Lorenzo Ruiz are its co-patrons.

Autonomous Commanderies

Filipinas

The first commandery founded. Comprised of the island groups Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, Ladrones, Borneo, Indones, Australia, and Indochina. Originally a patchwork of autonomous petty kingdoms, or barangays, with some attaining thalassocratic power. Spanish conquistadores administered the island for some three hundred years afterwards. Masonic bourgeois rebels from one ethnic group, the Tagalogs, overthrew Spanish dominion and attempted self-rule. They were beset by peasant uprisings, discontent from the local intelligentsia, and American imperialist ambition. A century and a half later, the Manilenyo Tagalog dominated pseudo-feudal\footnote{In the popular sense of the word. See Reynolds (1996). {\it Fiefs and vassals: The medieval evidence reinterpreted} for discussion on the word `feudal'.} government was overthrown by a popular uprising during the War of Unbelief. Vast reforms followed, including the installment of a new government based in la Siyudad de San Fernando in la Probinsya de Pampanga. Vestiges of the old order, including Modernist trappings in civil and ecclesiastical life, state-sponsored support for heresy and novelty, and poor education on the natural, formal, theological, and philosophical sciences, were done away with. The Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Pii Decimi became the largest and most popular congregation locally, with orders like the Ordo Praedicatorum, the Fratres Scholarum Christianarum, and the Societas Iesu being either reformed, like the former two, or dissolved, like the latter, after Trent the Second. Human capital formation after the uprising reforms allowed development in pure and applied sciences. After Sol System neutrality was established, Pampanga adopted Alcubierre drives for extrasolar travel. As of writing, Filipinas remains the most prosperous commandery, with vast transport systems linking major population hubs, underground residences home to most of the commandery's 120 million, and automated control systems adjusting production for time and demand.

Originally the planet Kepler 62f. It is an urban commandery, home to half a billion souls with most working white-collar occupations. Planetside laboratories supply most of the planet's nutrition, with imports from the neighboring Commandery of Sinukuan acting as delicacies.

### [Sinukuan](./pampanga/commanderies_of_the_republic_of_pampanga/Sinukuan.md) (2815)

Originally the planet Kepler 62e. An agricultural commandery, it supplies much of the Republic's fresh food. The galaxy also imports most of its Japanese cuisine ingredients from Sinukuan. Besides agriculture, mining operations abound here because of the commandery's rich iron and silicate deposits.
