Judge me O God, and sustain my cause; give me redress against a race that knows no piety; save me from a foe treacherous and cruel.

Thou, O God, art all my strength; why hast thou cast me off? Must I go mourning, with enemies pressing me hard?

The light of thy presence, the fulfilment of thy promise, let these be my escort, bringing me safe to thy holy mountain, to the tabernacle where thou dwellest.

A thousand years ago, the world burned as three days of darkness swept the land. Afterwards, what few survivors remained inherited the world. Now, thirteen realms rule Terra, twelve of them having claimed massive extrasolar domains. The Sol System lives freely under its peoples’ own devices. Galactic realms cooperate with humanity’s ever expanding reach. The Faith dwells in the hearts and minds of trillions, human or otherwise. In Fatima, Portugal, his Holiness the Pope sits on Peter’s chair, guiding his flock to brighter pastures. Technology advances with new inventions and discoveries every so often. The deluge of flame only sparked new heights for man, it seemed.

Yet from those heights, it only seems too tempting to fall.
