Christok@email.sc.edu  · USC Aiken Education Student · Class of 2020

My goal is to become a 3rd grade elementary education school teacher. I love working with children and I could not think of a better job that allows me to do what I love the most.

Experience

Spring of 2018

Clinical Observations and Analysis

Within this class, I was able to observe how teachers of different grade levels teach their own class. This class gave me ideas of different skills (classroom management, teaching techniques, classroom set up, etc.) that I can use within my own classroom.

Summer of 2018

Babysitting

From this experience, I was able to work with four individual children. Not only was a responsible for the care of these children, I was responsible for the coming up with activities to keep the children entertained throughout the day. I was able to take the children to learn how to swim, paddle board, and roller skate, so not only was I a caregiver, I was a teacher to these children as well.

Education

2016

High School diploma

I graduated high school with an honors diploma, a 3.5 GPA and a CNA certification. I worked very hard in the nursing program throughout high school to gain this qualification. From my hard work I earned scholarships to help me pay for my college education.

2016-2020

Working towards a Bachelors in Elementary/Early Childhood Education

I currently have a 3.4 GPA and I have completed 72 credit hours in the time I have been here so far. I have worked very hard and I have managed to keep my life scholarship throughout the years. I have recently applied for the Professional Education Program at the end of November and I am hoping to start in the Spring of 2019 (January).

Activities

Throughout high school I was involved in several events. I was part of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), I was in the CNA nursing program, and I played on the JV and varsity softball team. While in HOSA we went to our state competition and placed second within our content area and qualified for nationals. Our group decided not to attend nationals because it was located in Texas, but knowing that we qualified was a big enough accomplishment for us. While in the CNA program in high school I completed clinical hours and passed our oral and physical exam allowing me to graduate high school with a CNA certification.

Personal Statement

I have been asked by several people, along with many of my own family members “why do I want to become a teacher?” I have had people try to push me into another direction and get away from the idea of teaching completely. I feel as though some people choose their career path due to the amount of money they can or will make. Well clearly teachers do not choose to be teachers for the pay.

I want to become a teacher for many different reasons, but the most important reason is that I just simple love children. I love being around children. They are full of energy and are very honest human beings. I know that not every day is going to be a great day, but life is what you make it. Being able to be surrounded by children and being able to make a difference in their lives by teaching them material that they will carry with them forever makes every bad day worth it. Not only will I be teaching these students material that they will carry on forever, each individual student will teach myself something I can keep and have forever.
