Air is distributed using air blowers, which encourages the growth of bacterial populations in and around the floating plastic medium that has been included in the aeration zone. The MBBR media allows microorganisms to grow over a wider surface area.
d. sedimentation zone: Organic waste settles in the sedimentation zone, which is where the next treatment process takes place. In order to check that the effluent quality fulfills the appropriate sewage requirements, the settled waste at the bottom of the tank is pumped back into the anoxic zone, as return sludge.
4: Tertiary Treatment
The secondary treated sewage is then further processed using RO systems, pressure sand filters, and activated carbon filters to remove suspended solids (TSS), color, and odor. The treated water is first disinfected using a UV or sodium hypochlorite system before being used once more.
