A farm is a piece of land used to grow crops and/or raise animals.
People who grow these plants or raise these animals are called farmers. This type of work is called farming.
Types of Farms
1. A farm that produces fruits or nuts is called an orchard. Apples oranges, almonds and pistacchios
2. A farm that produces grapes is called a vineyard.
3. A farm that raises and trains horses is called a stable.
4. A farm that produces milk and dairy products is called a dairy farm. You can find cows and goats on a dairy farm.
5. A ranch is a farm where the animals are raised for meat or wool. You can find cows, sheep, goats on a ranch.
6. A large farm that produces crops like tobacco, coffee, cotton or sugarcane is called a plantation.
7. An apiary (or a bee farm) is a farm where bees are reared for honey.
8. Flower farm – Grows and produces cut flowers for sale.
9. Poultry Farm – A poultry farm raises birds for meat and eggs. Examples of animals found on a poultry farm are chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese.
