Dining Etiquettes: The Ones That You Should Be Aware Of

There are some etiquettes to follow when you are sitting in a fine dining restaurant like a well-recognized restaurant in Barossa valley. While some deal with common sense like you shouldn’t make rude comments or chew your food with your mouth open, others are a bit formal and more elaborate.

Following all the rules properly can seem a bit intimidating at first but don’t worry since they are pretty easy to remember.

Fine dining table manners

You will be escorted to your table once you arrive for your reservation. If your place setting has numerous cutlery and glassware pieces then don’t get nervous. Relax and follow these few easy tips:

• Start using the utensil that is farthest away from the plate.

• If you have more than two forks placed beside your plate then start with the outermost piece.

• Leave your used cutlery on your plate when the first course is over.

• Take the next piece in the line for the next course.

• Locate and make sure to use small spoons and forks for dessert.

• When you will be served wine, hold the glass by the stem, and not the bowl.If you don’t want wine at the end of your meal then make sure to let the service know right at the beginning, politely.

Before handling glassware and cutlery, make sure you are using the napkin correctly. Never use it to blow or wipe your nose or tuck it into your shirt or place anywhere other than your lap, and never clean the cutlery with it. Once you are done with your meal, gently fold it and leave it on the left side of your table.

Some extra tips for mealtime

1. Avoid burping

2. Don’t make smacking or slurping noises as you eat

3. If you need to cut your food before having it then just cut enough for a small bite at a time.

4. Wait before everyone is served

5. Try to match the eating speed of others at the table.
