Aye Mateys, it’s time to form your crew and find your way home!

  1. First thing, first! Come up with a creative name for your group’s pirate ship.

  2. Next, you need to decide who will be the Captain, the First Mate, the Boatswain, and the Carpenter.

Your groups are listed below:

Captains! Your task is below:

Your crew counts on you to show them the way! As the captain, you oversee the ship! Your job is to research the tools that you would need as a Navigating Pirate to locate the North Star. For example, what is the importance of a compass and a telescope and how do they help with navigation? When you and your group have finished researching your topics and have completed your individual tasks, don’t forget to add explain the tools and their importance on the back of your map (poster board)! The links that you will use can be found in the Captain section on the resource page! ONLY use the links provided and do NOT surf the internet. Everything you need to complete this project is given to you.

Aye Mateys! Again, once your individual tasks are done, you will work together to create a map on your poster board! Your Poster board and markers will be provided to you. Feel free to use paper and pencils to take notes of information you found interesting and would like to add to your poster board while using the links provided. Again, everything you need will be given to you and there is to be NO surfing the internet. As pirates, once lost and found again, you should be able to explain with your map how to find your way home using the North Star and constellations! Yo Ho, mateys, a pirate’s life for me!
