How to write a short essay in 10 moves

Are you thinking of writing a short essay for the first test of your high school graduation? Do you dream of 10 effective moves to triumphantly deliver a short essay for an end-of-year test or for a course you took (hopefully) with profit? No worries. Here's an outline or, if you prefer, an outline, and a few helpful tips at every opportunity to converge on the goal. Remember that the best example you can have is the right method of reasoning.

With the peace of mind of Antonello Venditti and his emotional bric-à-brac (which never fails to tickle every generation), let's give ourselves some useful guidelines for writing our short writing services. First, let's ask ourselves, "What is a short essay?" We are talking about a paper that takes up and synthesizes some ideas and information found from different sources. If the topic of your essay has been assigned to you, you will also be armed with a list of texts from which to draw news. If you examine visual sources (documentaries, films, video clips, paintings, comics, etc.) or materials on the web, look for the precise reference and properly cite the bibliography pertaining to your topic.

In order to write a good short essay, you will need to demonstrate a good attitude (one of my professors at the university used to preach this!) to establish connections between the elements of your research that have similarities or analogies with the topic you are dealing with, or with the thesis you are planning to support. Your work will then need to be organized and structured, selecting the most appropriate material for your work.

But let's take a closer look at what are the 10 moves to write a short essayand not frustrate or make our purpose incomplete:

Choose the appropriate topic. Unless the title has already been assigned to you, if there is a margin of choice (or better yet, a list of topics) do not consider topics that have sources that are far apart. Identify at least 3 sources that have direct relevance to your topic.

What type of essay? It could be an argumentative essay, where you state your point of view and articulate aspects of it. Do not venture too far in this direction if you have not mastered the subject and have not metabolized a lot of reading on the topic. You could organize an explanatory essay: outline the coordinates of the topic you are going to deal with; present the state of the art on the subject, with respect to the sources you have; organize the facts into categories and review the positions taken by the most attested and officially recognized luminaries of the discipline, with the aim of broadening the skills of those who read you (in this case it will be similar to a popular article). This is similar to a popular article. Finally, you might consider writing a critical essay, which is a discussion of some of the theses in the discipline. In medicine or humanities and social studies, this type of short essay takes on the task of analyzing the weaknesses of some research or experimentation and/or highlighting some areas worthy of further investigation.

Develop thesis statement. Try to make a point about the topic and express it in a short, clear sentence. Don't be outlandish or "bastian contrarian" at all costs if you don't have solid arguments! Compare your theses with the most authoritative opinions on the subject.

Ladder. You could start with a preamble or introductory sentence, or go straight to the point, in medias res. Perhaps cite an opinion, phrase or passage that is eloquent and explanatory with respect to the thesis you intend to support; b) outline current positions or studies conducted and conclusions with respect to the topic of your essay. Then, c) support the main points of your argument with the use of sources and their relevance; d) finally, reiterate the importance of your argument, what you have deduced from it and the conclusions you have reached, with an effective closing remarking the critical spirit with which you have approached the problem. In the appendix, set up a relevant bibliography.
