Restart your device
If your Avast antivirus shows an error code check for a runtime error. This error can appear due to numerous reasons. Instead of finding other solutions; you can easily restart the device. Go to your computer and close the Avast program. If you are running any other apps then close them. Now restart your device and reopen your Avast program. Run a malware scan and remove all malware.
Check for your subscription
Your antivirus program can show errors when its subscription expires. If you are using a paid Avast program then check for the subscription. Open the web browser and go to the Avast website. Now go for Avast antivirus login and your profile page will appear. Tap on a subscription window and you will see your Avast plan. If your Avast antivirus plan has expired then hit on the Renew button. Provide the renewal details and tap the confirm button. Your Avast antivirus program will renew and now you can easily use your antivirus.
Inspect all the registry files

Error code 16 can appear when some Avast registry files are missing. These files are necessary to find the correct path. Without these files, your Avast program won’t open and show an error. To fix the error; open the registry editor. Go to your device and run the Regedit command. Your registry editor page will appear. Now go to the editor and look for Avast files. If you see any corrupted registry files then copy and save them with the .reg extension. After creating the copy; repair the corrupted files. Again, go to your Avast antivirus and now check for the error.
Check for the RAM space
Your program can show an error code when it can’t get enough RAM to run. This problem appears when your device has low RAM. To fix the error; you have to increase RAM. Add RAM on your device and then check for errors. If you can’t add RAM then check for programs running in the background. Remove all unnecessary apps from the background and now run your Avast antivirus. You should also check for storage. If the hard-disk space is very low; add an SSD to your device. You can also remove big files to increase free space on your system.
Remove another antivirus from the system
Your Avast antivirus can show errors when another security application is interrupting the scan process. To fix the error, you need to remove another antivirus. Using multiple antivirus programs on a single system can lead to chaos. You must remove other security programs before installing your Avast antivirus. Go to your device and open the Apps folder. Check all the applications installed on your device. If you see any antivirus other than Avast; uninstall it. Also, remove any expired antivirus setup from your device. You should also remove all the related files. Now restart the PC and now your Avast antivirus will start working.
Remove all the junk files
Avast scans can get interrupted by your junk files. You should check for all junk on the system. Go to your device and start checking all drives for junk. You can also run a Windows junk cleaner tool. Run the cleanmgr tool and the clear manager will start looking for all junk on the system. Remove all junk from the system and now run Avast scan on your device.
If the error code is appearing due to missing Avast antivirus files then reinstall the app. Remove the corrupted app and all related files. Go to the Avast website and install a new setup on your device.
