IDEMIA today announced that its facial recognition algorithm 1:N came top among 114 tested systems in NIST's latest FRVT1. FRVT test results are acknowledged to be the gold standard of the global security industry. The results reconfirm the company's ongoing 40-plus year history as an industry leader in biometrics and illustrate its place as the leader in biometric technology and innovation.

The test results reported facial recognition technology performance in one-to-many (1:N) scenarios, comparing one face image against a large database of face images to return one or more matching images. IDEMIA achieved the best accuracy score of 99.88% correct matches out of 12 million face images.

One of the important aspects of AI-based automated facial recognition is to teach its various algorithms not only to be accurate but equally important fast and optimized for fairness. It is all about striking the right balance when dealing with large volumes of face images. IDEMIA's facial recognition solutions work with or without a mask and with the best trade-off between speed and accuracy, demographic parity, and can process face profile images. FRVT evaluated IDEMIA's core algorithms underlying all its systems using facial recognition which addresses access control, public security and border control needs, proving that IDEMIA has one of the leading identification systems on the market.

IDEMIA is truly committed to the highest level of technology to provide fast, accurate, and fair solutions. These FRVT results come on the heels of other high-ranking NIST benchmarks already recently achieved, further demonstrating IDEMIA's technology leadership. The following awards speak to IDEMIA's innovation and best-in-class solutions in security and public safety :

  • FACE: #1 in Fairness the latest NIST Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) in 2022;

  • FACE acquisition: #1 in the US Department of Homeland Security annual's biometric technologies rally in 2022;

  • FINGERPRINT: #1 in mFIT Challenge in 2022.

  • FINGERPRINT: #1 on most of data sets in the latest PFT III benchmark (Proprietary Fingerprint Template) for our AFIS-class algorithms in 2022.

  • IDEMIA's algorithms achieve the most accurate performance for fingerprint and palmprint datasets, with 7-60% better accuracy than any other algorithm at NIST's ELFT test in 2022.

"These results are further evidence that IDEMIA is committed to the highest level of technology for its AI solutions in line with its mission to make the world safer through developing state-of-the-art identity technologies," said Jean-Christophe Fondeur, IDEMIA's Chief Technology Officer. "We are very proud to outperform the market in line with our long-standing and ongoing 40-plus-year pledge to provide law enforcement agencies with the very best systems on the market."

eSignature

Signing on image by setting eSignature as printer. Templates can be created to detect document and where to OCR the data from t he image. Allow signing of signature on the document as image. Not legally bounded (meaning not trusted and enforceable). Mainly to address non-critical commercial setup’s need to sign and manage the signed document in soft-copy form. iGuard and iDocScan

iGuard is the interface for Visitor Management System (VMS) and iDocScan is the interface between document scanner and Cloud-based Oracle PMS.

The Players..

Thales became a prominent player in the digital identity and security market, followed by the acquisition of Gemalto (France) in April 2019. After this acquisition, Gemalto operated as one of the business divisions of Thales and was named Digital Identity and Security (DIS). Gemalto is a digital security solutions provider. It was formed in 2006 due to a merger between two smart card manufacturers, namely Gemplus International (Luxembourg) and Axalto (Netherlands). In 2017, Gemalto acquired the 3Ms (US) Identity Management Business, which included 3M Cogent Inc., a biometric solutions provider, and 3Ms Document Reader and Secure Materials Businesses. The companys biometric products comprise fingerprint, iris, and palm scanners. Gemalto Cogent Iris Scanner CIS202 is a dual iris scanner offered by the company. This device can capture both irises in less than 2 seconds and has near-infrared illuminators, LED lighting, and inbuilt spectral imaging sensitivity control to capture light in the 700–900 nm range. CIS202 is ideal for biometric applications in law enforcement and civil identity management, such as civil registry enrollment, biometric document issuance, applicant identification, border control, and inmate release management.

IDEMIA is a leading player in augmented identity. The company was formed by merging Oberthur Technologies (France) and Safran Identity & Security/Morpho (France). It offers technologies that enable citizens and consumers to securely perform regular critical activities such as making payments, connecting, traveling, and voting in physical and digital space. IDEMIA 3D Face, M-TRUST, MorphoWave Compact, and FuZion are the solutions offered by the company. IDEMIA specializes in three major biometric modalities, namely fingerprint, face, and iris recognition. OneLook is the iris recognition solution offered by the company. On average, this product captures iris and face biometrics in less than 3 seconds and is ideal for identity management applications. Typical application environments for this product include airports (for border control and self-service airline facilities, such as bag drop, check-in, security access, and boarding) and public enrollment. The company has recorded that over 5 million biometric devices were deployed worldwide for government & enterprise applications. IDEMIA, through its solutions, serves clients from various sectors, including financial, telecom, identity, public security, and IoT. The company has offices in the US, France, India, and Singapore.

Key players operating in the market include Thales (France), IDEMIA (France), HID Global Corporation (US), Iris ID, Inc. (US), IriTech, Inc. (US), IrisGuard Ltd. (UK), EyeLock LLC (US), NEC Corporation (Japan), Princeton Identity (US), and CMITech Company, Ltd. (Korea), among others. Major strategies adopted by top players to enhance their product portfolios, increase their market share, and expand their presence in the market include new product launches and deals such as acquisitions and partnerships.
