If you start running, you might run straight into danger, whether it’s a fire, tornado, or downed power lines. Take a few minutes to assess your situation. Make sure you know if anyone is hurt, who is safe, and if there is any structural damage around you.
Reach Out to Loved Ones

Once you have relative safety, it’s time to make a plan. Do you have access to long-term food and water? Should you move to an area not struck by the disaster? Is leaving worse than staying?
