Why has Meta Trader 4 Become so Well-Liked? {{ currentPage ? currentPage.title : "" }}

For retail forex traders, MT4 is by far the most popular platform. Most of the forex brokers provide this platform on their website. With several features, indicators, and other tools, it is one of the most comprehensive trading platforms available.

However, the MT4 wasn't initially designed in this manner and wasn't immediately successful. As we detailed in our earlier piece about this platform, it began as a straightforward charting tool in 2000 and developed gradually over time.

The MT4 was first released in 2005, and even though that version and the one we use today are very similar, a lot of upgrades and new features have been made since then. I'm not sure whether any forex traders remain today who haven't heard of the MT4 platform. What makes it the most widely used platform specifically?

MT4's humble beginnings date back to 2000. Online retail trading (ORT) was still in its infancy at the time. Even in 2005, when the MT4 version was released, there were only a few trading platform providers for ORT because it wasn't widely used by the general public.

Let us look at a few great features of the mt4 platform and a few reasons why you should open a forex mt4 account as soon as possible.

Totally free

Although there are other platforms that compete, as we will explain below, the MT4 ranks first to any other platform in reference to several aspects. However, there may be a cost for using this platform or programme.

Since MT4 is free to traders, it will always be preferred to other, perhaps more sophisticated solutions. After all, you can always use the money to fund your account. You'll have to pay money on the platforms and any additional programmes that might be included.

Numerous features

When the MetaTrader4 platform was initially created in 2005, one of the key reasons it became popular was the sheer quantity of features. The following were some of the main elements that simplified trading and market analysis:

  • The numerous charts put up with integrated charts that are simple to use

  • Window for the navigator

  • Window for the market watch

  • The window for indications

  • Greater than 80 built-in indicators

  • Electronic trading

While at the time there was little competition and other platforms lacked the key functionality that the MT4 offered, those features are now considered industry standards. The business, though, has continued to offer new features. A news area, a signals section, one-click trading, and more trading instruments are some of these enhancements.

Simple to use

When traders go live, beating the market and coming out on top should be their top priorities. Being successful every day is challenging enough; adding a sophisticated trading platform would only make matters worse.

Therefore, it is essential to simplify the trading platform. Despite having all the functions and indicators you require, as we have already indicated, MT4 is still very user-friendly and easy to manage.

The charts are on the right, the indicators are at the top of the platform, and the symbols and rates are on the left. The ability to trade and customise with just one click has made it even simpler to use.

Simple programming language

The MT4 platform's programming language is a crucial component. It has made it incredibly simple for traders, programmers, and third-party participants to develop and use Expert Advisors (EA) indicators and trading robots.

Thousands of third-party robots and indicators have been created specifically for MT4 in addition to the EAs and indicators. Traders have created scripts that can perform certain tasks in addition to EAs and indicators.

One instance is using scripts to remove all the indicators off the chart while still taking screenshots of a tiny portion of the chart that includes the indicator.

Customizability

The ability to customise is a crucial feature because it saves traders valuable time by allowing them to open only the charts they need and arrange all the indicators how they like. Basically, everything in your MT4 can be customised.

You can adjust the appearance of the charts, rearrange the order of the symbols, enter any type of internal or external indicator, and move easily from one account to another. All of these adjustments can be saved, allowing the platform to revert to its previous state the next time you use it.
